Hi All,
I have two adult BTS (Stubbs and Elouise) I have had them for 2 years now. High temp lately is around 95F, low temp is around 72F. Humidity fluctuates between 25%-45%
My vet says I should be feeding them 2-3 times a week. But they rarely eat anything. I am lucky if I see them both eat once every two weeks! I was wasting a ton of food feeding them weekly and just watching them stare at it so now I only feed them every two weeks.
They are very inactive. They have recently "woken up" from brumation. My vet doesn't believe that they truly brumate here in Colorado, US but mine seem to and they eat next to nothing for months! They seemed to eat more when I first got them, but that may have been my imagination....
Their staple diet is dog food, kale, chard, spring mix, sweet potato. They occasionally get cat food, strawberries, blue berries, carrots, banana, acorn squash, other squash. It's something different every meal so I don't think they are bored. They've never been picky eaters.
My question is: Is it normal for a skink to rarely eat, even during the "wet season" or Spring/Summer months? Am I just a little early and worrying for nothing? How often do your BTS eat? I guess now that I am writing this out, I could raise their temps a little. Any other suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Re: BTS Rarely Eat
It is completely normal. I'd recommend feeding no more than weekly, especially if they aren't very interested in food. That is lots of healthy adults.
They definitely will brumate in Colorado and usually males aren't interested in food after brumation - they are more interested in finding ladies than in whats for supper.
Temps sound find, what you are seeing is completely normal so don't worry! They will likely eat more in the summer and fall, but weekly feedings is plenty for healthy adults.
