Live feeder snails
I live in Newcastle (Australia) and was wondering where to get live feeder snails? I'm not very keen to get garden snails as I don't know if they're safe. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't help but I would also like to know of a supplier (even though I'm in Brisbane). Will be keeping a close eye on this thread

I have no idea where to get them over there, but over here I collect them myself from areas that are pesticide free to the best of my knowledge. Those snail baits are pretty toxic to them so if they eat just a little bit they die. To ensure they are "clean" I capture them and contain them them in plastic containers. I put either weeds, or leafy greens in with them and I ball up a paper towel, soak it and drop it in a corner for moisture and hydration. I give them fresh greens and a fresh balled up wet paper towel every other day or so, and wait. The snails eat a surprisingly large amount and within a week or two their "systems" are pretty well flushed. If they had ingested any toxins from pesticides or snail baits, they would not live or eat. They would close up in their shell and die.
I've been using this "flush" and "test" method for more than two decades now, and no problems ever so far. A surprising number of people over here would rather not leave poisons out, often because of other pets like dogs or cats, and they are THRILLED to have me come remove their snail population. It makes for a sustainable harvest where everybody wins. Well except for the snails...
