Eye issue--how to treat

Good evening everyone,

This morning when feeding my BTW I saw that one of his eyes is crusty and half shut. he keeps it partially closed but will open it fully when i pick him up. also,his lip has been slightly pinkish for some time,it looks slightly irritated. there have been no changes to his environment or food. his substrate is spot cleaned daily. I have no idea whats wrong with his eye or if i should put something on it. i did wipe off some of the crust with a warm cloth but the tissue surrounding the eye itself seems slightly inflamed. he will be going to the vet asap, but i want to get opinions on possible treatment for this issue. can i put neosporin on it? Eye drops?

As for his lip, hes had the slight irritation for at least a month. it will get scales that grow over it but they seem to grow a few layers over it,not a crust but like a scale scab. he eats well and it hasnt gotten wors its just slightly pinkish. I put Neosporin on it for 2 weeks and it didn't seem to help very much but Anders doesn't care if i touch his lip he just sits there while i put the neosporin on so i dont think it causes him any pain.

Is he shedding well? What are your humidity levels?

I'd wipe it very carefully with a damp cloth. The only thing I'd use without a vet recommending it is saline solution / salt water. For the mouth - is there any redness inside?

He doesn't have any redness in his mouth the lip just looks irritated. He sheds just fine, he gets soaked when he looks like hes going to shed. humidity in his tank is low. I don't mist him but he has a water dish. I was told he doesn't need to be misted.

so,to provide an possitive update, his eye appears not to have an infection at all, but it looks like a cricket or superworm may have nipped him on the eye lid, or else he scratched his lid somehow. I've been wiping with a warm damp cloth twice daily,once in the morning and once in the evening,and applying neosporin to the lid .its definelty helping.he doesnt have any crustys on his eye and he is opening it fully.it looks good,no discharge or anything.ill post a pic when i get home from work. he still is going to the vet but im happy its not something serious

Unless it's Neosporin specifically for eyes (I know they make eye drops), I would not be putting it anywhere near the eyes. Unless it is made specifically for eyes, never put it in the eyes or on the lids.

I wont put any on the lid any more.

Any recommendations on a reliable reptile vet in the NW chicago suburbs?
