Breeding IJs

I was scrolling through the posts and saw a post from Jen about breeding IJs. I just had a few quick questions. We have a known male that actually came from LLL breeding facility, he has been constantly dropping sperm plugs. We also picked up what looks to be a female. We have had them out together and there wasn't any agression, them climbed over each other but other than that they both just kind of sat around. My question is since I didn't cool them at all this year, should I still try and put them together and see if they lock up, or should I wait until next season and give them a proper cooling period? If you all think its worth a shot to put them together this year, is it really as simple as putting a towel down in the males cage and putting the female in there, then just watching for a lock?

That is generally how easy it is. And it doesn't have to be in a cage, I usually block off an area of my hallway, grab a book and get comfortable.
But it sounds to me like you already have put them together. If there was no freezing/staring/chasing/biting then I'm thinking you may have missed the window for this year.
Did you quarantine the female before introducing them?

When I had them out together its was on a giant plastic sheet that you would put in the bottom of a dog crate. I was told the male could sometimes be agressive towards others so I just wanted to see how they acted around each other. I kept it open in case I needed to jump in and stop something bad from hapening. When I first put them on the sheet together they did just stare, the bumped into each other once then stared again, then one climbed over the other, then they seperated and just sat. Maybe I will give it a few more tries, but it does sound like I missed the window. Yes I quarantine all my new edditions before I introduce them into even the same reptile room. That is why I waited so long to introduce them, which is probably why I missed the window.

I'm so relieved. People seem to not take quarantining seriously these days.

Ya, I am on a snake forum as well and I am amazed how many people post the same question "do I really need to quarantine my new snake", it drives me insane! If I could reach through the computer and shake them I would haha

Yesh maybe try a few more intros,if female isnt reafy msles often font show interest,but could be windows already shut,i dont brlieve ij,s need a full shut down to cycle,being of tropical origin
