Bluey breeding season at an end

lol in the 3 years now that I've been trying to dial in breeding Northerns, I think this year is the year I learned the most! I laugh at people who have been short term breeders that tell me that they know it all now, I hope I never stop learning! Expected gestation is 5-6 months with northerns, right?


I had 2 pairs this year. One is a gorgeous female (Queen) who has a wide faded pattern down her back, totally drop dead gorgeous, and definitely tied with my merauke as my "babied" skink. She's also a gigantic girl, not fat, just huuuuge. My other female was my current avatar, Broodlord, who is also a sweetheart, and on the lighter side. My male is my older lighter guy, Overlord.

Breeding season is over, partly to no more interest in Broodlord, who I'll be watching closely to see if I can catch ovulation, and partly because my male is finally over the top out of control where I just can't allow him to breed his ladies anymore. I know skink breeding is rough stuff, but I draw a line eventually...I want bubs but I love my little ladies!

Got 5 locks with Queen, and 6-8 locks in with Broodlord (6-8 because I'm not sure he...made his target if you know what I mean a few times)

I'll be getting new pics of everyone now that they are shedding, and after the girls heal up from breeding season abrasions.

I have never had a northern go more than 128 days from the last copulation to giving birth. Usually it is right around 110 days. Good luck!
