BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Just shot a couple of photos of the Blotched Blue Tongue I got from KL last summer. It's now 8 months old. After growing slowly but steadily, its appetite really seems to have taken off and its growth seems to have accelerated lately. Its weight just hit ~365 g. I'm guessing it's a female, but maybe that's just wishful thinking...



We get lots of dorsal shots here but it's rarely mentioned how nice they are ventrally as well...



Love my 2 Blotchies (but given the way they sleep why aren't they called donut skinks or tire skinks?) -- hoping to add one more in 2014!

Looking good! My males are just out of brumation, so I need to weigh them. I offered food yesterday for the first time, and two of them went right for it, but only ate a bite or two. I can’t wait to try breeding these guys in a few weeks! I hope Kim will have another one for me this year too!

Good luck Jeff. I hope you're successful in breeding these guys. We need more people producing them in the US.

Beautiful blotchie. Good luck. I find that adolescent age the hardest to tell the sexes apart, although, generally clear one way or another after 12 months. There are a few elements about this one that would make me lean towards male. Ie. the speckling under the chin, blocky shaped hips, svl looks a little short for a female. I could be wrong.
