They are really beautiful Rich. The WA occis are possibly my favourites of the lot.

They are gorgeous Nae and Richard. Thanks for posting pics. More please!

What are their temperaments like in comparison to other BTs?

How common are they in the natural range? Over here we have fence swifts that I see dozens of every day. Then we have alligator skinks which are rarer, but you could find several a day if you knew where to look. Then there are some lizards which are reported to live here that I have never seen, or only very rarely.

If I went for a nature walk in Alice springs, would I be very likely to see a Western BTS?

Never seen wild ones but reportedly they are common in alot of there range but cryptic so not as easily found as other species, though they come from more sparsely populated areas which probably explains that to

Something about those black masks and black noses is just so endearing to me. I wish these were bred in Canada!

It's supposed to be a Victorian. It has been fighting with its mate, hence the jaw issue, but it's just about cleared up now.

Nae,

Do you know the locality form of this fella? Just interested as it looks very similar to Richard's Geraldton form. Very nice.

Besides the Pygmy, I think the westerns and centrals are the hardest to find in the wild. They aren't exactly the common backyard bluey. In the 3.5 years I have lived in WA, I have not heard of anyone finding a western in their suburban yards. Plenty of shingles, but not westerns.

I was originally from the Hunter Region NSW and as you can imagine Easterns were almost as common as the Garden Skink. Likewise, in the short time I lived in Darwin, the Northerns were commonly found just around parks and front yard gardens. Here in Perth, the shinglebacks are just as common in the yard. On the other hand, I lived in Alice Springs for over 3 years and only ever came across 2 wild centrals and they were out of town. One of them I found near Glen Helen in the winter, the other was 70 km east of Alice in the summer after some heavy rain. The Centrals were rare and you would have almost Buckley chance in finding them in suburbia.
