Are we sure this thing isnt a Tanimbar? 17 new pictures

I hardly ever take pictures of this guy, mainly because i dont want to go anywhere near it. This thing is big, strong as an ox, violent, and im fairly sure that its smarter than me. She tore apart her enclosure tonight while i was trying to take pics. Im fairly sure that she tried to throw her cork bark at me. Its one of the most beautiful skinks that ive ever seen, but terribly violent. I figured after some time to settle in, she would calm right down. That was a year ago. Anyways, ive been trying to compare her to my Tanimbar and im noticing allot of similarities. Temperment, muscle tone, glossiness, and im fairly certain scalation. (she wouldnt hold still long enough for me to get a great scale count) Any input would be appreciated.

You cant see how glossy she is because she was half buried in peat moss when i opened the lid. She ended up all dirty. Also the second pic is by far the best picture ive ever taken

I don't think the tail is stubby enough.. and the pattern is too clean IMO. But I see where you would second guess.

It is also lacking the reverse pattern they usually have.. and I have never seen that many bands on a Tanny.

I definitely took the band count into consideration, but tail length is also shorter than my Ij, although that is variable specimen to specimen. Look at the forearms, clean with no markings at all. That points to tanny. Looking at this animal in person it looks like both species equally.

I love the second pic. Sadly I'm not very knowledgeable on bts so I can't help with the tanimbar dilemma. Good luck figuring out what it is.

Yeah I planned on breeding her to my biggest IJ this week, but I want to be certain of what she is before I pair her with anything. Don't want a bunch of surprise hybrid babies

He is a very busy man and I definitely wouldn't feel right taking up his time with a trivial identification question. I'll just look for input from more experienced keepers, and until then I won't breed it

The bands throw me off.. they are too thin, too many, and do not follow up on the reverse patterning they have.. they have bands like Westerns, very thick, and have a little patterning inside the band's as well.

I vote IJ.. but do not hold that against me.

So at this point two votes for tanimbar and one for Irian Jaya. Im still not sure what I think it is.

Looks like one of those Port Moresby IJ, just with thicker bands. Same Auburn color to it, and same band count to it.
