BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hi Everyone,

Is anyone able to let me know what the rough gestation time for Western Blueys are?

I have 4 Eastern who have all dropped over the last 2 days, just over 100 days from last mating.

This is my first season with Westerns and paired them up for 2 months (Sept-Oct). I didn't witness any mating so i thought i would leave it this season... Now, the last month her personality has changed... She has started huffing at me, something that she has never done, she has been tearing up her enclosure, burying herself, tipping hides and water bowls over - again she has never been one to burrow or 'mess' her enclosure. I have noticed the labouring breathing only this last week, although not sure if it could be from the hot days... She has got a little larger, but has always been a 'chubs' so i can't really go off her size....

Can any breeders of Westerns help me out with a rough guide to their gestation?

Ive got one due any time,didnt witness mating either but would have been around same time,i think,lol,makes it hard when u dont know when they mate,mines turned into a bit of a monster from mellow as well,doesnt trash cage though but is on carpet

Had my first one of the season give birth 3 days ago. Matings were beginning of October. Mine usually become monsters about 2 weeks before they give birth.

I think Jeff needs a new thread called, "Western Blue Tongue Skink pictures only". I'm at home today on daddy daycare duties so I will get the camera out.

As for gestation periods, I have no real data. I didn't observe mating, my lot are housed together. I had 4 coastal south oz form born on the 16th of December. Mine are kept indoors with no nighttime heat, located in SEQld. I have 2 more chunky girls but as time goes by , I am losing hope by the day. They both sloughed just before Xmas.

Occi mentioned to me with his females that its quite skew iffed at times when they drop,some drop a month or more after others

I cant even predict when any will drop,even when i see copulations,lol,all i saw with westerns this year was males hemipenes were swollen big time and he was dropping plugs left right and centre but over a long period,but big time in september/oct

A western thread would be cool,some nice varieties out there

How dare they??? Whats even worse, acanthurus above made mention that one of his Westerns actually gave birth only days ago. This forum rule should also be applied to those who choose to speak of the Goldfield shinglebacks, albino's, hyper melanistic and/or any other rare specimens.

And acanthurus has goldfields too!
