BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

I spent the last week in california shop hopping looking for a new gigas to add to the hoard. I saw some really nice animals this week, but this little guy really stood out. I have a thing for orange halmaheras, and this guy is almost identical to the one that i bought a few months ago. I found this little gem hiding in the back of a LLL location. I cant for the life of me remember which one, jbolar will hopefully chime in at some point, since im sure he remembers. Despite being tempermental on occasion, he is a wonderful little skink. This is now the second halmahera that ive bought that has had a little bit of orange color showing, who then shed the same day that i bought them, into stunning full body orange animals. Seriously dumb luck on my halms at this point.

So... How many skinks is that now? 50?

Wow, that is orange! He is gaping just like Riley does!

I think this puts me at 34 skinks at the moment.... I think...

Like i said, it looked a little orangy at the shop, then I woke up the next morning and was amazed at the little critter in the deli cup. Not at all the same animal from the night before

He is a cutie, great color!

Do you know his gender? Is there a "bead"-like bulge on his tail?

Dakota, the first thing I did was examine the tail. No beads, no bulges, nothing. So hopefully a female. Waaay to early for a gender guess though

Yeah I'm really pleased with the purchase. These two will make an amazing pairing if the genders pan out.

They actually increase in orange coloration as they age.

BTW Austin, I'm trying to find a 4-leafed clover!

Kl, so far at least, my other one has gotten much more orange with each shed. Hes about 15 inches now.

They are born a dull chocolate color, then develop the orange literally after every shed (you notice the extra orange after ever shed, no kidding).

My favourite color in halms,the axanthics are nice but personally the orange grabs me more,cool looking addition

Halmaheras are no doubt the nicest (NOT temperamentally wise.. they are Satan!!) Bluetongue out there, BUT the axanthics add the extra WOW factor to 'em!
