Hi guys! Long time no chat!

I'm having concerns about Misha. He's not eating much lately. I have a feeling it may be related to temperature/time of year, as it is the dead of winter here in Canada, but I wanted to be sure. I gave him snails last weekend, and he gobbled them up no problem, he was actually quite excited about it (it's his favorite treat).

I'm planning on offering some of his (healthy, safe) 'treat' foods more often until he starts eating more regularly... ground beef, fresh insects, snails, etc. Do you guys think this could just be him being picky? His temps are fine, I check them daily. He doesn't seem to be unhelathy otherwise, so before making an appt for the vet I wanted to check here! I'd especially love to hear from Fatal_S, since Misha came from her babies!

How old is Misha?
If he's at a healthy weight then there's no need for worry, and I wouldn't even feed him treats until he's eating his normal meals. Although, ground beef, fresh insects, and snails are not unhealthy treats, like feeding mostly fruits.

He's a year and a half (he was born July 2, 2012), and when he stopped eating regularly he was at a healthy weight, I think he still is, to look at him, but I'll be weighing him this evening to be sure. Yeah, I won't be letting him have banana or anything like that... just healthy stuff he really likes but gets less often than dog food.

Haha, I already have. I'm probably just being a paranoid parent, but I just want to be sure... Misha is my baby, after all!

We totally understand! I'm much the same way.

Sounds like normal behaviour for winter,males often slow down there eating but stay reasonably active,this is normal time for male northerns to mate,so they can get really active but with food not really on there minds

Ah! I'm glad to hear that then! If it's something a bit more unique to males, then that makes sense. And he did drop some uh... of his stuff in the cage the other day, at least thats what it looked like! Must be why!
