BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Both my girls, who mated in November, are starting to look a little "pudgy"
so I decided to get them out for pictures and weights for the record,
then decided I might as well do them all since it's been a while.
I know it hasn't been terribly long since I posted pictures of them, but thought, might as well...

Sam and Rosy are offspring of either Milo or JJ who both mated with Xyla.

Cinnamon is a sick "rescue", the same age as Sam and Rosy.

That's such a gorgeous collection of Meraukes you have Susann! And thanks so much for posting weights. I don't really track my animals' lengths very much but I weigh them almost weekly and keep a record, so being able to compare where my adults and growing juveniles are at compared to others is really valuable to me.

Milo has been pacing his tank since end of Nov, hardly eating a single bite, dropping plugs left and right, but no action when I put him with either Xyla or Maddie. Same thing happened last year; I finally put Milo with Xyla in Feb, and he finally mated with her (nothing came of it). Now that I weighed Rosy and see she's almost 700 grams (she was 24 inches last time I measured, been a while since though) it got me thinking maybe I should try Milo with her now.

I guess Milo is just on a later schedule...?

One of my male northerns did that this year susann,he got one mating in at the end,before females shut up shop,normally hes the main breeder,starting before other males and ending after the other males have already slowed down

He did grab at a couple of lasses but just gave up a bit this season,he was doing more pacing ect a month after a female had mated ,from memory he stayed pretty active when the others had slowed down which probably delayed his cycle

Cinnamon is doing OK, seems to go up and down; just when I think he's (think I saw sperm plugs in the bath when he pooped) doing better, something makes me worried again. He's much better than when I got him, but every now and then he starts making a bunch of noise when he's breathing, or this morning it took him a while before he could get his left eye open. But he's eaten a little bit and seems pretty active, so I'm hoping with some more love and care he'll keep improving.
He has shed once and as you can see he is still super dark; you can barely make out stripes!

Still early days but theres progress so thats a good sign,i wonder if darkness is due to illness,he very likely could just be a darker form,be interesting to see

Hes in great hands which is a big posative for him,fingers crossed he keeps improving

Uh, what? male?. Someone once said that anybody would have a 50% chance of guessing his gender. Well, don't you just hate it when someone says "told ya so" Could still be wrong though. Time will tell. I do hope that he improves and becomes a vibrant Merauke.

Very nice Susann. Quite a collection. The question of gender seems like a mystery to me also.

Cinnamon has moved on to a new home where he is thriving with tons of love and attention, and a new name --he now answers to Mr. Nubbs.
