I still find that rather expensive. I just fused two 50 gallon tubs for my Virginia that costed $0 (surplus storage tubs, hehe)

I've only ever bought glass cages during the $1 per gallon sale. There is no way that I am paying $120 for a 40 breeder glass tank. They still calculate tax based on the $120 price though!

For a glass cage, this is a great deal.

The $1/gallon sale is great but once again let me just say:
Iris Christmas Tree Storage Box = 52"L x 20"W x 14"H = approx. 100 gallons = $30 = Fantastic deal!

Although storage boxes and plastic bins are economical, they take away the ability to display the animal. To me, being able to display and properly house an animal is more important than buying a cheap enclosure just to say I have an animal.

Not true. You buy clear bins, for one. Set them at a hight where you can view them from above 24/7 like I do, for two. And not all people buy them as vivarium "display" animals.

No need to argue - the original poster was just putting this up to help people who might be looking for a new enclosure. If anyone wants opinions on what to buy they can do a search or start a new thread, but that doesn't change the fact that this is a good deal for glass enclosures.

While I don't want to have a debate here, I do want to note that these particular IRIS boxes, when used correctly,
are "proper" housing for BTS. They are VERY large (~1040 sq. in of floor space) and they are transluscent - giving the ability to see in while also arguably giving the animal inside more feeling of security than having glass on all sides. That said, if a completely see-through display is what is most important to you, go for it. But there is nothing "improper" about using these enclosures.

Again - please start a new thread to discuss this. The original poster only meant to let people know about a sale, and not to discuss proper housing of BTS.

It's a good topic, although lots of information is already available by search.
