Caramel Northern (New Pics)

Postby Seadation » Sun Nov 03, 2013 12:48 pm

I have a full blown addiction and may soon need a place to stay after my wife kicks me out. My Northern collection has quickly grown from two to five. I was amazed a couple of months ago after Ray posted a pic of his special T+ Albino Caramel Northern and knew I had to have one. I contacted Ray and asked if any were available and quickly learned that he had none for sale. After a couple of hours on the phone with him he mention to me that he had been selling these special caramels for a couple of years now and mentioned a local breeder that had purchased a bunch from him in the past. I tried contacting this person and also quickly learned he was holding all his babies back and had none for sale. After about a month of text messages and calls and back and fourths and begging and pleading I was able to acquire one of his special caramels. It is still very small only about five inches or so and has very nice colors of reds, browns, and burgundy almost purplish looking and according to the breeder this is the darkest they will ever look and they glow at a year. Here are some pics of my little guy who is currently on my weight gain plan and I will keep everyone up to date on his progress. Thanks to everyone that made this happen.

Thanks, Yes the eyes on these guys are awesome. They look like two dark little black stones yet when you get them to the light the eyes are actually a gray/grayish blue color. If you click on the last picture it will get larger and you can see the grayish blue color under the light.

What's with the Pink Tongue? I have noticed it for a while now but was finally able to get a pic. The back half is pink unlike any of my other Northerns. Ray if your reading have you noticed this in your caramels?

Yeah, a partially pink tongue is a gigas trait. Ray must be crossing his skinks. :hehe:

Jeff,Yes I have read that in the bluey bible. I wonder if it has anything to do with the T+ gene?

Well, full albinos have completely pink tongues. The presence of tyrosinase must be producing melanin part of the tongue, just like it prevents the eyes from turning pink.
