blotchy males have started to shed,almost porn time

Well its that time of year here finally,it varies every year as to when they start shedding,late september to early december has been there range over last 13 years

The males shed before they start mating,which out doors varies from year to year depending when spring warmth comes and if it comes,lol

On the 16th of oct it was 27 degrees and the dominant vic alpine male had shed,today it was 16 degrees and this young fella was just starting,typical melb weather,a nice day or 2 then a week of poxy weather

The week end is shaping up to be mid to high 20s and ill be back down there to strip parts off a landcruiser and feed these guys,was to cold to bother today but there were quite a few out basking even with rain coming over frequently today,i might get to witness some blotchy porn over the week end if they start up straight away so ill get some pics if i can

Also means lots of mummy and daddy skinks are going to be cuddle timing as theres lots of mummys and daddys in the one house

Even there kids will join in and kids kids,will be like a 2 odd week festival of bluetongue naughtiness,oops i mean cuddle time

No signs of any mating yet,usually dont for a week or two after shedding

Was offered some last season ,well in swap for my king skink pr,but never going to happen,and they wanted to much per specimen for my liking,oneday maybe,but personally i dont think they differ to much to mainland forms

Weathers delaying mating time so far but heres some pics from today,a few males have now shed,a few still to go,next warmish patch of weather shoukd see some action,a few solid girls so should be a productive season

First couple of lowlands males have started to shed as well

Still no sign of mating,most of the males have shed ,been pretty poor weather lately but up to 28 tomoz ,have a feeling there holding off for a bit still, as not even any sign of lead up chases and male pecking order behaviour

Grass has taken over in there,believe it or not i weeded it out recently,hard to keep ontop of it when its an hour away from where i live,they seem to like the cover though

Checked on blotchies today,gave them a feed ect and still no signs of mating,couple of males sjow the odd sign of niggling though and dominant male was staying close to a couple of females,so maybe next few days as its going to be warmer,the sun is actually going to come out,well i think anyways,lol

Very odd spring so far,been the coldest november for 30 odd years,like last year our seasons were all messed up and we seem to have missed spring,lol
