My first BTS

Went to the CRBE (Canadian Reptile Breeders Expo) and picked up a young northern bts. Weighed him/her this morning at 87grams (not sure the exact birth date or even a clue what age would be...emailed breeder this morning). Having a hard time naming him...im kind of hoping its a boy(for no particular reason)...been thinking about Navy or Wink. Such a personality...cant believe I waited so long to get one!


and his giant tank that he/she loves and uses every inch of. My brother made the tank for me, a 48inchX22inch and 15inches tall. I made the landscape according to lizard-landscapes

I saw that skink at the show. It is a big beautiful skink and he price was good too.
Great to see it go into such a nice set up.
How did it do eating that carrot in your hand?

Couldnt log into my old account...had to solve the CAPTCHA and it kept erroring out, so I had to create this account.

I considered adding substrate after the initial "quarantine" phase was over, but since i've been off work since purchasing him and done nothing but observe, he really only goes into his aspen to sleep. He spends most of his time out in the open basking, on the cork log, on the green platform, or on the ground with his face close to or up against the glass....watching me watch him.

Blueish: He really seems to enjoy his green beans. He will eat it right out my hand, along with just about whatever else I offer him (except blueberries)

My eyes are getting bad and this phone doesnt help, I thought that was a carrot. lol.
I usually nix any new arrival, esp from stores or shows before putting them in their enclosure. Mites seem to be epidemic these days.
That is the nicest Northern I've seen at an expo.
Try frozen blueberries. Most of mine aren't keen on fresh but love frozen.

I got him from Port Credit Pets. They had northerns, irian jayas and easterns. The northerns were the smallest and what I went there with intentions to buy and they had I think close to a dozen to choose from in northerns alone. I definitely lucked out with this little guy though! So friendly with such a personality, and gorgeous to boot!

I havent noticed any mites but will keep my eyes open for them. Port Credit Pets is a pretty reputable place so im not worried.

Congrats on your new pet! They really do have great personalities don't they?! Now that I own a couple I can't imagine life without them
