Hi everyone,
Smudge only hides in this one hide, no matter where I put it, he will find a way to get into it and won't use any of the other hides even though he knows where they are.

Is it smaller than the others? They tend to go for the smallest, to feel more secure. Perhaps your other hides are too roomy

My skink does the same thing! Just bought him a brand new hide and he spent about 5 minutes in it then went back to the other one! I think the other one must have just the right temperature for him to hang out in without basking out in the open and it is the lowest, most enclosed hide. The new hide had more overhead room and I have noticed he likes to crawl under heavy blankets when he is out roaming so that he is "squished". Does your skink's favorite hide have any of those qualities?

The hide is heavy and has quite a bit overhead room but is narrow.
