I got my first 7 week old BTS yesterday.he's hiding a lot as I expected but is eating crickets and some butter squash/apple/turnip greens fine.he's in a 35 gallon tank currently.I'm a bit nervous as he's not basking after I feed him at all.is this OK as I know it helps him digest his food big time? He's hiding all the time except for the 3 times I helped him out of his hiding area and showed him some food.

Hi reptilefella :)

As long as you feed him at least a few hours before lights out, and he has the option to bask if he chooses, then he will be fine.
Sometimes my girl is too shy to bask after a feed, then again she often does bask after eating,
Once your bluey settles in to his home and feels more relaxed, you will see him bask more :)
He sounds like he is not acting out of the ordinary for a skink who has just moved into a new home, you are doing well :)

Is there a hide under your basking spot? If there is, he's probably using that for heat. Since you've only had him for a day, you will likely not see him very much, even to bask. As long as he starts pooping and eating well, you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the reassurance. hes pooping fine I've seen(on me twice lol). There is a a reptile cave with an entrance he goes into to sleep and can sit on top up it to bask as basking light is directly above it.Still eating great.ate butter squash, kale, strawberry and 4 small mealworms for breakfast.
