The floor space is really what matters. What are the dimensions of the tank floor?

Re: to big for baby?
As long as he has plenty of places to hide, space isn't a problem. They can be fearful of large and open spaces, which makes a bigger tank look too scary for a little one, but they grow fast and he'll get used to the enclosure and most definitely appreciate the bigger tank as he grows up.
If you have your temperatures right in a larger enclosure, there would be no need to downsize and I would let him have the larger one.it will save moving him when he grows.
