Here is my setup

For my birthday (7/19) I got a nice 48x18x19 tank. Shortly after I contacted James Wilson about purchasing one of his babies. After lots of emails, questions and patience on James' part, I made a decision and reserved baby #4 from litter A. Then I got down to business and set up heat sources & decorated my tank.

For heat and light, I have UV on the left and a halogen bulb on the right, both are on a 12hr timer. Also under the basking rock there is a UTH on a thermostat, which is set at 80F. The big hide on the left is much bigger than I thought it would be, so I stuffed some aspen inside of it to make it feel more secure.

If anything needs changing please let me know, I have tonight to fix it. Over the weekend I paid for our new baby and s/he will be here tomorrow

Looks awesome! I'm not showing that to my skinks, they would be so jealous!

The only thing I can suggest is to feed that suction cup down to the sensor; the sensor usually lodges into it, so the sensor is firmly attached to the wall down at the top of the substrate. I would then feed the rest of the cord up behind the plant and out one of the corners with an opening. Then attach the thermometer-display on the outside of the tank. That way he won't be tugging on the cord, nor trying to use the display for leverage to climb up.

The yellow thermometer is measuring the temp of the basking rock. Now that I have the dimmer set I'll take it out and use my temp gun to keep track of the basking spot. I was wondering if the little guy/gal would mess with it.

Over on the left by the big hide is a thermometer that has a probe going over to the uth. It's also keeping track of the cool side temp and the humidity.

The only thing that I would change is the location of the UVB bulb. Generally you want your UVB and halogen bulb on the same side since that's where your lizard will be basking. If he's basking on one side and his UVB is on the other, he won't really be able to take advantage of the UVB. CHances of his basking on his cool side just for the UVB are very slim. If you're worried about it being too dark on one side of the tank you can always put a fluorescent bulb on that end. ^.^

Great setup! love the slate rock positioning, just make sure its firm and secure so that he can accidentally shift it and cause an accident. Can't wait for some pictures!

I would change the water dish, at least until he's a little bigger. It's great to have a deep dish and while you don't have to fill it up, he may struggle to get out if he gets in it. You could place a small rock in the bottom for leverage and maybe buildup up the access points a little with small stone or rock piles, to add some stepping points for him.

Lowering the entire dish area may be good, also, since he will be tiny and the risk of injury if he stepped off the higher points with no step up, would be high.

I plan on supplementing with D3 calcium and read that a UV light is not completely necessary and thought it would be ok to have it on the opposite side of the tank. It's mostly to add light to that end, but I figured as long as there was a light down there is might as well be contributing something besides just light. Based on that info should I still move it?

The basking rock is very solid, I pushed on it every which way to make sure it wouldn't wobble.

I turned the water dish bricks on their sides which lowered it quite a bit and I'll find a smaller more shallow dish to use til s/he gets bigger

I went to the grocery store yesterday and they had a pretty cool dog dish that works perfect for water. It's melamine but has some texture for grip, the inside is slopping as well. I also put a smaller dish of water over by the big hide for now.
