If you really hate your bonsai, that'd be a real good way to get rid of it.
BTS are notorious plant-murderers!
I wouldn't put in anything that was of pine-origin just because of the risk of the highly scented oils irritating your skink. I also don't know how toxic bonsai plants tend to be.
But as long as you check on the safety of the leaves being ingested, you're free to give it a whirl ...and let us know how long the plant lasts.
