BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

its incredibly warm here and i fear for both of my lizards. its around 30 C ambient temp outdoors every day since 3 days back, and will continue for the whole week. living in sweden the heat and cold systems indoors are mainly made to keep it warm and not the other way around.

there are two bowls of water in each terrarium, and one of them now has a lower wattage bulb, but im going to turn the lamps off tomorrow if this continues. their basking spots are very much too warm, and the cold side is definitely not cold enough!

of course, litchie is still basking and running around like usual, and pomme keeps his routine of 3 days of eternal basking( not moving from the spot even at night) and 3 days of eternal gloom (in hide on cold side).

is there anythng you can think of that i can do more?

when im home, i only go home once every day to look after them since i live in a summer house during summer, i change the water and open their shutter door on both sides so fresh air can go through the terrariums easier.

other than turning off the heat lamps i cant think of anything i can do, other than to take them out of their tanks for a longer time period. i dont mind staying at home if it helps.
i cant have both skinks out at once, ive never tried it and i dont think i could keep an eye on them at the same time.....not to mention the possibility of them injuring eachother.

im uploading some photos to this thread tomorrow when i get home. they just shed so they look really great.

Seeing as they are both northerns, I am of the impression that they will be just fine - it gets MUCH hotter up north in Aus~

if night temps drop a bit daily ambients of 30 arent to bad,i normally use late 20s ambient temps for shut off temp for ambients,just to protect from over heating,my room temps can skyrocket well above that,i dont offer night heat,so usually it cools down a bit at night

nothing wrong with shutting heat off it it gets pretty high ambient temp wise,though at 30,they are a little under preffered body temp but during hot spells thats often safer,buggers still stau pretty active regardless

I agree with both the above statements. Turn off the lamps that put out heat, and that way you don't need to worry about them all day long while you are gone. 30 is nowhere near too hot, especially with glass sides to cool down against and water to lay in.

the heat issue has been solved by itself, weather change skinks seem to be acting natural.
