BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hi everyone, just about to set up our 40 gallon terrarium for a new baby BTS and I was wondering if a 7 inch diameter heat lamp is good enough or do I need to get a 10 inch wide heat lamp? I also understand that a 100 watt bulb is sufficient...is this correct? thanks again for the input...

100 watt may be ok in the winter, probably too much in the summer. Get a Temp gun so you can check the temps regularly. Temps on the basking rock during the day need to be 95-100 degrees F. I have used 7" and 10 ", both work. Check the 7" light and see if it will take the 100 watt, mine will only safely handle up to 75 watts.

thanks for the info I ended up getting a used 7" that can take up to 150 watts
