Blue Tongue Skink eating problem?

Postby DerpyDash » Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:47 pm

Ok so I just got BTS and I am unsure about his eating patterns and what not.

I fed him Monday (and ate). I tried feeding him yesterday and today when I woke up which was about 2 hours ago. He didn't touch his food both times.
He is pooping though.

So should I keep trying to feed him, let him be, or what?

Adding a picture of him for no reason. :P

What is his age? I assume around 6 months?

Depending on the blueys age you shouldn't feed then everyday. Maybe this is the issue. How old is the skink?

For when you are online-- My now confirmed male Merauke was smaller than that, and he went WEEKS without eating.. no problem arrived of it.. he is finally on a good routine, with some special approaches from me.
Monday was just 2 days ago.. if he is around 6 months he should be eating every 2-4 days. I wouldn't fret.. when they are hungry.. they will eat.

I am assuming he's about 6 months or so. And thank you for the advice.

By 6 months you can feed 2-3 times a week. If he is not eating much you are probably feeding too often, and he just isn't that hungry. My adults are fed 1x a week, unless pregnant or putting weight back on after delivery. They eat very well this way, not much left on their plates

Rule of thumb: If its pooping, its eating :) I learned this from the short time i had Crested Geckos...they eat the smallest smidgens of food...but they sure can poop! That's about the only way you can tell they are eating...and that's pretty true of all animals. :)
