Custom Enclosure
Hello, I am new to the forum and was wondering if I can get some help. I recently aquired a baby Halmahera blue tounge, and am planning for the future. My question is does anyone know of someone that does custom enclosures in the south Florida area? I also have two tortoises and want to have stackable enclousure built almost like a bookshelf. I would try and build my own but I have little experience with carpentry, I'm sure in the long run it will be more worth it to have some one do I for me. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know about any custom enclosures but you can try critter condos. They stack great and I've heard the work well as cages. Check them out and see what you think.

What material do you use when you build them? I might just give it a try myself.

Re: Custom Enclosure
i use mdf 5/8 i either use tile or contact as a seal. then stain the outside with minwax wood stain and sealer. the trick is to pre-drill and counter sink your screw points. ryobi makes a counter sink that works great with fine thread sheet rock screws. i use white wood to finish the outside, or sealed fancy pine. * its conditioned pine that is on the outside of the enclosure wont effect your pet*. i use my table saw to cut the groves for sliding glass. * started to use Lexan now i think i like it better virtually unbreakable. after everything is together i coat every seem of tile or contact paper and joint of wood with clear silicon. this prevents and mdf absorbing moisture or water. mdf can handle humidity if seal right if you dont seal it . it will swell up and rot. so be sure to seal it. did i say to seal it enough just curious , be sure to seal it.
