I love the things they do with their tongues, but it's so hard to get good pictures of them. You got some great shots that really show the way the tongue moves. Of course it's even nicer with such a pretty model.

Clancy is really very pretty she seems to be quite good at completely ignoring the camera as well! shes so focused.

We like to feed all our pets with as much fresh foods as possible which is more expensive and definitely more time consuming but the reward is in seeing how much they enjoy it. Vegetables and fruit usually costs about $200 per month with the three blotchies only a very small part of that amount. We also have four herbivores and a vegan who all get fed twice a day with different diets.

Clancy is called an Alpine by some but I prefer to call them Highlands as it is more descriptive of their range. She was very nervous and frightened when we first got her but has totally calmed these days which makes it easier to get close to her with a camera. When there is food involved she is very single-minded, giving it her full attention.

@Dakota - The lens is the same 100mm macro but I am now manually over-riding some of the program by using aperture priority and tweaking the ISO a little to get more depth of field. It is a relatively heavy lens so slow shutter speeds aren't always feasible due to camera shake. It is a work in progress.

Macro? What is a good lens for very micro shots? Like trying to get a short of the hairs on a spider's leg.. or something? I think now that I have my camera, I'm leaning toward very close-up shots..

In photography macro refers to the size of the image recorded either digitally or on film, not the size of the subject. Image sizes of 1:1 or greater than life size are described as macro.

There are a few different options available to enter the world of macro photography, each with their own pros and cons. The simplest means of starting is a set of close up lenses which look like filters and are screwed into the end of the lens in the same manner as a filter. A good quality set though will be quite expensive and they have to be manually focused, whereas a dedicated macro lens can be used with auto focus. Then there are such things as extension tubes that fit between the camera body and the lens to extend the focal plane. Another option is an adapter that will allow the lens to be reverse mounted. A full on macro set up will usually consist of a macro lens and bellows with maybe some extension tubes.
