More pics of the new guy
Still haven't chosen a name, poor guy. He gets called something different every day
Names I am considering now are Achilles, Vulcan (son's favorite) and Helios. Well here are some pics;

What made you pick him over the rest of the brood?

Loved his colors and pattern. I am hoping he is male so I can breed him with Ember.

Are you looking into getting some high-amber colored babies? That project would be very interesting to see the results..

lol, last week when I posted pics, you said he/she looked male, I guess that just shows how tough visual sexing is when they are so young. He/she is only 6 weeks old so still a lot of growing to do! My guess of male at this point has more to do with personality. My male is very adventurous, very active in the tank, while my females are more lazy, mellow. This little guy is VERY Active!, none of my other babies was quite as active as this one. But only time will tell.

Re: More pics of the new guy
Yep,part of the joys of sexing from pics,even with adults it can be tricky going off pics
Its nose looks thin in pics on this thread,but as juvies both sexes look similar in that regard,giving female appearence,its a good size for 6 weeks old,out of all my yearling northerns only the big one i can tell is male,its huge compared to the others,next biggest id say is female,the other 5 are all looking female,when i sold a few,the bigger ones were often grabbed,which makes me wonder if male babies grow faster than females,which i know one breeder of scincoides scincoides in australia sees in his holdbacks with easterns
I have 7 of last seasons holdbacks plus ten of this seasons,so will see if i notice a pattern i guess,as its something i havnt noticed but may have happened with easterns ive had in the past

Re: More pics of the new guy
We are trying Helios for now, I am liking the sound of it! Wow he is gaining well, weighed him today, he is up to 170g
I was a little stunned. Need to get a length, he is a good 1" longer than the other 2 babies I still have here.

Re: More pics of the new guy
Yes he is only 6 weeks. His Mom is 23 1/2" so I think he could be a big guy. He is already a good 1" longer than my other 2 adults were at that age.
