BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hi guys,

I have a question, my Dad's Bluey is having problems walking on its front feet.
The thing I've noticed is he can't seem to turn his hands over to push his body forward.
He is also very aggressive, so I leave all the handling to Dad. I'm not sure what's wrong,
but if you guys have any suggestions, i'll take them in to consideration.

Does he have problems with mobility or does he just tend to walk on the backside of his front feet? I have a skink that also walks on the back of his front feet on occasion but he gets around just fine.

how old is the bluey?
does his feet or wrists appear swollen? either red/pink swollen or just obviously larger than the hind feet.

what does his diet consist of?
how are his temps?

when did he start being so aggressive that you do not dare to pick him up? has he just huffed or has he displayed and bitten?
is it when you disturb him while he is sleeping or basking or always?


i dont really have any good explanation for you, but with this information someone else might have a few ideas.

Pictures can help as well.

Gout might be a consideration.

He walks on the backside of his front feet but he does it all the time.

I'm not sure how old he is exactly but he looks like he's less than a year old.
His diet mainly consists of meat and fruit, like steak, banana and cat food. (crab/fish)
I haven't measured his temps yet.
He has been aggressive pretty much from the moment we got him home from Darwin.
He huffs all the time, soon as you open the door.
He has striked at me once, mum 3 times and Dad once but he never really displays, he just strikes.
He huffs pretty much as soon as you go near him, unless he's in the open then he tries to run away.

Your vet may consider hypocalcaemia/mbd with that diet.

My skink has symptoms of mbd (developed before I had him) and has walked on the backs of his front feet since I acquired him. There may be a correlation between the mbd and the front feet being used incorrectly.
