Hello everyone,
Smudges lights is controlled by a thermostat inside his vivarium, this means if it gets too hot it automatically turns off and turns back down when it is at the right gradient. Well, when I came home from school yesterday I noticed it was off and assumed it to be the thermostat, but today when I got back from school it was still off and when I tried turning up (normally turns on) it still wouldn't turn on, it was then I realised his light was broken!!! I feel so terrible! My poor Smudge! I don't even know how lon it had been off for! I am the worst owner ever. Now that the pity party is over, what should I do? I have got him on a hot water bottle at the moment to heat him up. I hope he dosen't develop a respiratory problem!

By the way, what do you think of the lighting system? Other than being broken at the moment. The u.v light and heat lamp turn on and off with a timer but I'm not sure if I like the thermostat so much.

Thermostats are great. When they work. 
I'm always a little weary of completely trusting a thermostat. If I have anything that automatically controls heat, I always have thermometers on both warm and cool sides that I can easily see. And every so often, I double check with my heat gun to make sure the thermometers are somewhat accurate. That way I can see at a glance that the heaters are working and not overheating, and that thermostats are keeping up.
How cold do you think it's been in your house the last couple of days and nights?

Cold! I don't let them put the heaters on in the study because I'm afraid of over heating Smudge. I have a digital thermometer on the cool end a non digital in the middle and a digital for the hot end as well. Temps are normally 22 on the cool and 32-35 basking rock.

Few days of cold wont hurt him,they live outside in your area ,should be fine until u get a new light
