Is 80 degrees on the cool side of the enclosure a bit high, or is it fine? Some say anywhere between the low 70's an low 80's.
Buddy is still in my 8x4 feet enclosure with a 160w mvb bulb for basking as the only heating source. That alone gives me 80 degrees on the cool side. If he's gonna be in there for the summer I will need to get him a 125w, but that depends entirely on how fast the tegu grows. Is 80 degrees fine for now?

thats fine for daytime cool zone if it drops abit over night,you must have good conditions to keep lowend that warm in such a large cage

Yeah, it drops to room temperature over night. This house is really keeping me busy in regards to keeping sufficient temperatures, I've struggled all winter to keep the temps high enough and now when it's warm outside it's the other way around. In my smaller tank I've gradually gone from a 160w to a 50w bulb.
