BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

whilst growing hemroides(sitting and waiting on a stumpyto drop something)
must get a comfy chair for watching,picnic table bench seats arent the best,i have been watching other lizards to and noticed some interesting shedding behaviour i hadnt seen in them before with my northerns

a yearling holdback kunnanurra kimberley northern was biting off loose skin off legs and feet and consuming it,ive seen the odd one bite at it to help get it off but hadnt seen them consume it all

and then yesterday prince regent female young adult shed and was walking around eating all its shed it had gotten off,they often shed in small bits so looked odd a young adult going out of its way to even eat single scale sized bits from floor of enclosure,looking at her this morning she has a little bit left on her feet,then theres zero sign of actually shedding,cleaned it all up for me

that for me is quite odd

I've noticed I never find much shed in cage when my babies are shedding, which is quite often. I mix up the substrate, and still no sign of shed. Maybe it is same thing happening. Very interesting.

thats a good sign,my centralians are the worst culprits,they happily devour there cage mates shed to,rarely do u see much shed left

I just thought the geckos were the ones that did so! We learn something new everyday!

Well aren't you guys lucky. None of mine eat their sheds. I have to clean them out myself lol

most of mine leave shed to clean up to,westerns being the worst as they flake off,it looks like someones scaled a fish in there,stumpies and blotchies are best as they leave big chunks of shed,often whole body and head in one piece

My IJ used to leave little chunks here and there.. My Meraukes leave occasional flakes.. maybe a big piece of skin, if I'm lucky.

I've never really noticed mine eating their shed, but then again, I feed mine so they don't need to.
