Was the gecko wild caught? Because wild caught anythings are not very safe to use as feeders as they could have parasites. Interesting choice for a feeder. I've heard of Chameleons feeding on small lizards but I dont think its particuarly good for them, I wonder how it is for skinks?

Not only wild animals have parasites.. but I agree with you.

The skink whilst out for a daily constitutional just happened to find the gecko wandering aimlessly around the house and decided to kill it, finding that "fun". What an amazing circumstance.

even more strange is gecko appears unmolested,even still has its tail,they usually drop them rather easily,without tail area needing to be touched,generally if blueys go something they swallow it,unless its way to big or the taste is rank,not play with there food so to speak,and to me the gecko doesnt seem like such a threat that the bluey felt the need to defend itself

My Irian Jaya would absolutely not kill ANYTHING. I even had to encourage her to eat a thrawed mouse, I have not offereed live food, besides roaches to my Meraukes.

Slinky loves eating his pinkies or mice. But he's really a sweetheart when it comes to human. I'm not sure why he always seems aggressive to other reptiles in general. And yes because I was leaving somewhere I put him back in his cage with the lizard he found. I can't be leaving him in the room alone. I don't know about the tail thing.

Its not illegal to feed live feeders here thank goodness...or I'd have some dead snakes
I switch to F/T as soon as humanly possible, but sometimes it takes AGES.

I do sometimes give the skinks small live rodents because they just LOVE them, but its few and far between. They get f/t refused food from the picky snakes more often.

I know that CBB feeders can have parasites too, but the incidences are much lower, and plus they probably havent been exposed to poisons etc. I know there are some common isopods (I think) that just hoover up heavy metals in the "wild" but are ok after several generations to become feeders if bred for it. I am lucky to have a feeder breeder in my area that fecal tests the heck out of his rodents every 3 months for rodent/reptile, rodent/rodent, & rodent/people parsites etc.

Todadile eats just about whatever i give her, being wild caught i didn't think she would eat f/ but she does.
