another litter perhaps

found this in the outside cage today,another still born,looks developed fine except has curled back tail tip,not sure whos dropped it,the baby is alot bigger than earlier litters and its been dropped today,anyways thoughtid share

no not alive kenn,still had yoke sack attatched,and dried birth sack still on it
breen pretty lousy here for the blotchies this season scott,perhaps the heat knocked them around abit,or that combined with first time mothers,,only ever had 1 litter with still borns before,prematurely born ,maybe from being to big a litter,8 babies plus at least 3 slugs from the lass in my avatar,every other blotch litter has been perfectly developed
this baby is huge compared to the other 2 litters,baby appears freshly dead to,its actually bigger than my month old baby from first lasses litter in late feb,and that wasnt an ovely small one
last couple of days have been quite cool,barely sunny,so odd to have a bub dropped today,even more odd is vic alpines dropping over such a large time frame,usually its all with in a week of each other,going back down tomoz so will have a good look for more

Will you do a necropsy? It would be good to know if there were internal defects. If that can be ruled out, it narrows down the causes a little for the mysteriously high proportion of stillborns this season for the Aussie breeders.
Sorry you lost another, Richard. But like you said, it looks fully developed, I doubt anything would have changed the outcome for this poor thing.

Sorry another one didn't make it Richard. It has been a hot but erratic summer though and maybe it is because these highlands are naturally from much cooler conditions.

no necropsy,buried the lil tyke straight away,ive got video of the last still born being born before this one
another odd thing ive noticed is small litters,3 and 2 and now this one,maybe others were dropped im unaware of,going down again today so will have a good look about,needs a good weeding,could be some stragglers hiding away still

not just that,dont want anything to get the taste for juvie lizards
no sign of any other babies yet,weather was poxier today instead of the slightly better the news report predicted,did see some juvie cunningham skinks wedged deep in the hollow log with a couple of adults though,going to be fun trying to get them,not,lol
hopefully the weather picks up a smidge again,its gone from ten days of 30 plus to not warm enough to stimulate feeding in the blink of an eye,typical melbourne weather
