Indonesian (Tiliqua Gigas Gigas)
That specific animal is probably gone now(if they ever even had it).
It is a cool looking animal, but the seller is known to sell animals that are completely different than the animals they show in pictures.

I actually e-mailed him about the corrections.. Most of his skinks are Meraukes, but he had them under Irian Jaya.. and he asked me about the golden one, and I told him what people thought, and I told him what I though.. Irian Jaya.

Those are correct. But I question whether the seller still has the animals. He doesn't have the best reputation.

He offered the Golden one to me for $215, but knowing me, I have no money.

I sent him an email, to see if they are still active.

Haha. I'll bet the seller loved having a kid email him telling him all that he was doing wrong.

Remember - IJ is NOT a recognized species. So telling him that he is selling them incorrectly identified isn't really true - he might be listing them based on the area they were collected rather than the species. Although he is an importer and generally advertised based on pretty pictures rather than pictures of the actual animal for sale, he has probably been doing this a lot longer than you've been researching BTS. This is really common practice. In my opinion, it is pretty rude to be emailing and pointing out corrections, especially when you are new yourself.

He didn't mind. He said he went to a professional and they said that they were Irian Jaya.. so they are not basing off location..

We know. You've told us many times. However, lots of the questions you ask would make it seem that you aren't nearly as knowledgeable as you think you are. :?

Only when you guys doubt me :ohyes: The questions I ask, are questions that I know the answer to.. but I want to make sure I don't read false information, which I tend to read.

Since you are new here people are going to look at you as a beginner, whether or not you have had skinks for one year or a millennium. You have to earn respect.
I know how you feel.

That's an oxymoron.

If you know the answer to your questions you would have to know whether information you were reading was false or not; if this is the case why do you still go ahead and ask the question anyway?

Of course there is going to be doubts as to your actual knowledge when you start so many threads requesting fundamental information. Perhaps if you spent a little more time thinking things through and used the search function more you would start less threads seeking answers to basic questions.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who do not.

Really doesn't have much to do with being new here. Has a lot more to do with being 15 and overestimating one's own expertise. If anyone should understand that, it should be Monitorlizard.

There is nothing wrong with participating on a forum and giving your opinions no matter how old you are. The problem is when you think that you know more than people who have been keeping reptiles and studying them for decades before you were born. That is not only foolish, it is arogant and rude.

As an example, I have a picture of a lizard I kept as a pet in 1972. I have kept reptiles continuously at least since then. I have kids in their 20's. They have been exposed to reptiles their whole lives. They probably have more experience with BTS than you do, yet they have the humility to respect those who know more than they do.

When a young person, (or anyone who has limited experience) comes on a forum and considers themselves as a peer to those with MUCH more experience, it is going to ruffle feathers. Arrogance never makes friends. It is much better to take the time to earn the respect of others.

Just my humble opinion.

I wasn't trying to say I knew everything. I just seen his ad on kingsnake.com, and I thought it was the right thing to do to tell him, instead of him spreading false information. I don't even know how long that person has been keeping reptiles.. I talked to him about it, and his seemed fine with my input. The only thing he was mad about it what people were saying about him on here.

I have those ads running and actually appreciate folks (regardless of age) contacting to give recommendations to narrow down the identity of a specimen. I edited the ads quickly to correct them. Regardless, they are imported and sold commonly as irian jayas and gigas so if there is some resources to better identify them then perhaps a link to that information would be helpful. And never had the above mentioned happen with someone receiving something different from what was in an ad.

This is not the first time this happened. I imported some northern's from europe about six years ago and posted them as such and someone soon after emailed me and wrote that they were mixed or something was wrong with the way they looked. They came from some top skink breeder in europe but what can one do when there is no solid key on specimens such as this. For example, that yellow one has many folks here confused as to what it is, so if the pros have debate then how is some 50 year old dude with bad eyes going to figure it out especially when it trying to bite his hand off.
