Shedding Problems :(

Hi,

first of all: i want to apologize for my probably bad english ^^ I'm just a german

I've got 2 BTS: 1.1 Tiliqua Scincoides Chimaera, they live sepperated since the started fighting each other
(probably because of a endoparasites, which should be healed now, i probably should check that first...)

They both have: Same Ground, light, temperature, humidity, feed, ...

The Problem:
My female BTS just ran around while shedding and now looks like a young teeny skink again
But my male one just dosn't shed himself.. he now looks pretty "grey", and i can see that he ist full of old skin, which dosn't seem to come loose.
He has this problem since i have him (About a half year), the last times i just bath him, but i want to find the reason why he dosn't shed

I hope you can understand my problem, i would take pictures, but light reflects to much :/

Your post is a bit confusing. Are you saying that he looked like he was going to shed but never did? Also, how old are your skinks and what size are they? Skinks shed more as babies than as adults so maybe your female is younger than your male?

They are both in the same age - I don't really know how old they are, but they are adults.

Yes, i can clearly see that there is a old skin above the new one, normally he should now start to rub himself to loose it up, but he dosn't.
I should in all probability go to the doc first, since he still could be bothered by flagellates

Ok - It seems that i just became a little nervous because she was skinning today and i saw that for the first time ^^

Something must be in the air: He also started rubbing himself today, he now looks a little weird but he should be able to handle that, otherwise i will help him

It sounds like you need to raise the amount of moisture in the air (humidity). Give him a moist hide (like a half log with damp moss or damp paper towels in). This will help with the skin. It can be nerve wracking at first, just make sure you always check his toes and tail tip for skin that should have come off.

He has a wet hide, even if he doesn't like it to much ^^
I know about the importentes of checking the shed, because i'm used to take care of snakes

I'm just still a little nervouse about my skinks, because there are not so much informations about them in the german web :/

haha yeah, my snakes usually leave the wet hides alone too X_X
