This one was mentioned before somewhere too. Anyways, the ad starts with a lie - there are way more than 20 in the US. Andrew and Ray both produce them, so some years there were probably 30+ available. Even if most went overseas in wholesale lots, there are still definitely several in the US.

As for the price? Debatable. A sexed, adult, proven pair, including shipping? $1000 might be fair. The babies are $250 each if I recall correctly, plus shipping. On the other hand, they're a pretty silly investment - it's hard to sell tanny babies, they're just not top-tier pets. So you would need to be serious about wanting to keep/breed them. Personally I would want some to know more about why he thinks they're a pair though, and I'd want to see more photos.
