Zeke has worms??? Q-Q

Omg I am such a terrible mum....

I was meaning to get him fecal tested back when I first got him, but he went into brumation so quickly so it didnt happen. Then with work, new job, my own personal issues, plus the fact that our local vet is only open on Wednesdays, because he seemed to be perfectly fine getting him tested kinda fell down the rung on my priority list...

I seriously feel like crap for not doing something sooner....

I looked into his cage, saw a fresh poop and upon closer inspection it was full of visible worms - pin worms I think? My guess is that because each time I normally see his poops they are dried, the worms would have shriveled up before i saw them.

He is still in perfect physical condition, bright, alert and active, eating well. Is there anything off the shelf I can get him if I were to post a photo for ID here?? Otherwise Ill drive him the couple of hours to the nearest vet - I assume any vet can treat worms? What should I ask for? Do I even need to bring Zeke??

fecal sample and zeke to the vet, then he will have weight measured ( i think) and then meds prescribed. not sure in what order this goes, but the process should be swift since worms happen so often.

worms wont hurt zeke, as long as you dont ignore them
they are fully treatable. but disgusting.

what worms really do is to steal nutrients, in small amounts this is not dangerous, but in larger amounts it is. but it takes time for them to become many enough to have visible impact on his health, i think. kinda like cats and dogs.

as for what to do before the vet, keep feeding nutritious food. make sure he has lots of water available. and he will be just like normal both before and after.

Depends on the vet on what you will need to do. Most vets around here will run a fecal exam without seeing the animal and dose based n the weight you provide. Dewormers are relatively safe and typically takes a lot to overdose.

So, we went to the vet. Zeke does indeed have worms

I used every laxative trick in the book to get him to poop - Banana, egg, wamr bath - but alas, it was futile. All I got out of him was a urate in the warm bath, along with some other white things. i wasnt too sure what they were, but once he was done I fished them out to have a look and lo and behold, they were wiggling. So I took them to the vet in the poops stead.

Maki my teil also came down with crop mites a day or so before Zekes appointment, so he too was slipped in. I never have any trouble vet wise with my animals, two at once good grief x.x

After the vet finished looking at Maki, I opened Zekes container...And he finally pooped....Good lord....

Anyway, both of the little dudes are currently on meds - Zeke hates me for it. I did a bit of reading on here about how people have trouble regarding giving oral meds, but all I did was slip the syringe into his mouth after he took a bit of grape from my fingers So that was easy enough, bit of a shock for little Ezekiel however!! Haha~

They both otherwise got clean bills of health, even elderly little Maki~

yep, and most of my pants are pooped on (not IN)

I have now 2 bearded dragons in hospi with some serious worms and flagelates and amoebes.

Gross, but it happens. Most animals have some form of worms unless actively treated for them. I hate parasites, they make me angry. For some reason, I take them personally! "how dare you hurt/infest my loved critters! DIE EVIL THINGS DIE!" Perhaps not the most rational approach to parasites...LOL
