BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

(S)he still doesn't have a name. I've had her for three weeks now. She's hilarious. She was staring at me for a solid hour waiting for me to give her more snails, and periodically snuffling around to see if she missed any. The best is when she yawns. It startled me when she did it the first time because she was licking my finger and suddenly all I see is a pink and blue abyss and then a little sneeze.

Glad it's working out! She seems very calm and easy going.

Thanks, guys. She's very calm. She gets a little huffy sometimes, but I just wrap her in a hand towel and put her in my shirt and she falls asleep almost immediately.

Any idea as to how long she is? Also, how'd you manage to sex her?

First of all, this thread title is adorable. I dont know why but it makes me think of Sesame street and it made me smile. What a cutie. I love their reactions to snails

Yes, (s)he is my first blue tongue. I've wanted one for a really long time and I'm so happy I finally have her.
I love how she knew what to do with the snails immediately.

She's around 13 inches or so. I haven't actually sexed her. I've gotten a lot of opinions one way or the other, but the general verdict seems to be that she's too young even for an educated guess.

Yeah, probably too young for anything definitive like sperm plugs or seeing hemipenes. Doesnt hurt them to call them the wrong gender, they dont care
Unisex names are safe, but sometimes its hilarious to have a backwards gender name like Princess for a boy! My females all have wierd names since we named them after Starcraft 2, and are not particularly feminine...I have a "Creep" and a "Broodlord" (although I think of her as Brood lady LOL). I think I really will name the next lady skink I get Princess though, just for a change of pace.

You know what's funny, is that I was considering Zergling or Broodling or Hydralisk as names.

On one hand, I can't wait until she gets big. On the other, I want her to stay a baby. I have serious mommy syndrome. I'm the same way with my gecko, especially when he was an only child. I've always been like that with my reptiles.
