Bowel movement after brumation?

Postby RemmisMama » Thu Mar 07, 2013 3:47 pm

Hello everyone! I'm new here and new to owning a BTS. :D
I have a 10 month old Northern. She just woke up from brumation about a week ago. She seems healthy and is eating just as shes done before brumation but has yet to make a bowl movement. I'm getting worried. :helpme: :noknow: I plan to take her to the vet as soon as possible, but before then, I want to hear from you all here who are experienced with BTS. How much longer until a BTS would typically make a bowel movement after brumating? Is it possible she's in a bind? If so, is there something I can give her that will jump start her metabolism? I read soy yogurt can help. Any advice? Thank you in advance!

You could try a little banana or egg(scrambled, no butter or anything added) When I give mine a luke warm tub bath (only an inch of water) they usually go in the tub. I wouldn't be too concerned about a week of not going poo. Make sure your temps are adequate 95-100 basking spot.

Nothing to get worried about yet. Just keep feeding normally, and things will certainly work themselves out soon.
