Please Help ID

Postby Zalder » Sat Mar 02, 2013 11:12 am

Hello everybody! I've had my first bluey, Jorge, for a while now. The problem is though, I don't know what type he is! The people I adopted him from seemed to think he was an Eastern, though I think he looks like either a Merauke or Indonesian. Please help, I've posted some pics of various angles, and a poll (I just copied all types from the main site, though most are unlikely). A reply and a vote would be nice.

I know I gotta clip his nails.

I can't help with identifying, but I feel the need to comment. That is a great looking skink.

Definitely not an Australian species. This is the Axanthic, (so everyone calls them), mostly found on the Island of Panana.

It's an Indonesian.

It is an Indonesian. It is not an Axanthic though. It is shedding.

So it seems that it's an Indo. But what's and "Axanthic"?

An Axanthich skink is lacking of yellow/orange pigmentation. But in the fist and second picture you can see yellow. The skink is just going to shed soon. Sometime within the next week or two, your skink will shed its skin and show its normal colors.

As everyone mentioned, SHE is an indo. While sexing visually is not very accurate, I have a good feeling your skink may be a female.

Are you sure of your geography? Where is the island Panana?

She??? How can you tell? I was told, on a guess of course, that this was male and have always just gone with it. This would be huge if you really think it's female, like, name-changing huge! :O :O

Oh wow, turns out Panana Island isn't even real. I will get this straightened out in a minute.

I'm not sure.. That comment says his name was Panana.. I might have read it wrong, or just read false information.

Body structure, lack if hemipenes bulge, chin waddles, to name a few.

On a scale of one to ten, one being "not a clue" and ten being "we might as well have an x-ray", how sure are you that it's a female? I don't mean to pester, just curious.
