Basking and eating
My blue tongue skink Smudge never basks and he eats in very small potions only a mouthful and is very nervous of people and is always hiding whenever someone ones in I have had him for nearly three weeks the temperatures are 28- 34 on the hot side and normally 27 on the cool side he tends to stay in the hide on the hot side. He loves basking when he is not in his enclosure when he is outside he is very active and friendly it's just when he is inside.

Re: Basking and eating
27 C on the cool side is way too warm!
no wonder he doesnt bask.
get the temps down asap. it will solve everything.
on the other hand.....
if your skink is young then small portions fill him up quick
as long as hes eating well is not a problem.
if you just have had your skink for 3 weeks it is unlikely to have become accustomed to everything yet. skinks do hide a lot, especially when young, but they need time, handling, feeding, care
