Worms in poop! HELP!!

So i have had my bts for about 2 months now. He has been healthy and nothing has been wrong. His basking temp at 100 degrees and the end of the cage in the low 80s. He has had normal poops all the time that i have had him. Yesteday i fed him eggs and at around 8 i turned the lights off and put him to bed. At 8 in the morning today i looked in his cage and saw a massive poop that seemed like diahrea. I thought that it was normal until i saw som weird white things in it. Having knowledge from dogs, i immediately thought worms.They are all dead if they are infact worms. Help me please. I know there is a guy here who does fecal exams. It is just so sudden everything was normal. I am going to dig him up to see if he is doing okay. how do you attach pictures?

1. Many, and i mean many, blueys have parasites, captive bred or wild captured, youre never safe. Fecal exams are definitely a good idea, then start treatment if needed its really recommended to do a fecal if you ever see something weird.

2. eggs make poop runny. banana does too. they are fed when you suspect a bluey has a slow stomach

3. to upload a photo, while posting a message note the "upload attachment". pick the file, choose a caption if youd like, then add the file, then send the message.

4. the weird white things might be something else. like sperm plugs or pieces of urates that came out quick. still, id do a fecal if i were you.

5. if it is worms, naturally, only or mostly the dead would come out. means there might be a lot, if there really are any :/

He is a 4 month old northern so he is cb/ I feed him eggs only once a month as a treat because he seems to enjoy them. The ''worms'' were extremely tiny and short and were not moving. I showed a pic to my mom and she said it looked like rice. I feed pedigree dog food and it has rice in it so could that be the cause? I am still trying to uplaoad pictures so they may not be up for a while.

it is no guarantee that captives dont get parasites from somewhere. it is really really simple to catch something. but they live with a slight parasitic load just fine, but one bad day can make them become too many.

of course it can be rice. it is after all not digestable

eggs are great treats but they do cause runny poop within 24 hours lol.

I wish I could help, if it were a dog or cat I would say tape worms. I'm not sure what this is in a skink though.
There's a vet on here somewhere...maybe they can help.

Aren't tape worms long? These were very small like a grain of rice small. That makes me wonder if it could possibly be the rice.

Looks like rice,but to be safe pm reptileking,he has a fetish for skink poop and offers free fecal checks,and can reccomend how to send it,which may be good for piece of mind

It has been 2 days without pooping. He has been shedding an today got it all off. I offered him a meal consisting of pedigree dof food,butternut squash, okra, peas, carrot, and a few small chunks of strawberry. He didn't really eat except a little bite of dog food and a piece of strawberry. He seems to be acting fine. He is moving around a lot more than usual but that seems normal since i replaced his aspen with paper towels for the time being. I stll need to pm reptileking to see how we can do a fecal exam. I know I am being a little to paranoid but I want my little guy to be okay. I am praying that his next bowel movement will be normal and the worms will only turn out to be rice.

Most vets will fun a fecal check for about $30-$40. Why not phone around and see prices? Reptileking can do this as well, but a local vet would get you answers much faster. If it is visible worms thats a lot of parasites, can't hurt to get it checked by a vet right away.

Thanks Katrina, I have been looking around for an exotic animal vet in the area. The thing that makes me wonder is he was having normal poops solid and perfect looking until i fed him eggs on Saturday. It looks a lot like rice but i just want to be sure. Hopefully he will poop soon and i get to get a good look at it. Regardless, he is getting a fecal exam done.

....tape worms are extremely long BUT tape worm eggs look EXACTLY like rice
so i agree that a test should be done just to make sure but it seems like you are already on top of that for the most part

Actually tape worms can "break apart" which is what you see that resembles rice. Their eggs are microscopic.

In my opinion (as a Vet)
fecal exam to be sure which parasites these little ones are.
And then treatment

Thanks for the replies, i hope he eats today so he will poop. This is a question for all the pedigree dog food feeders. I feed the kind that is all mashed together like in a loaf. It has rice in it but i was told that it wasn't harmful. Now the question, has rice ever came out of your skink looking like this? I was looking through his poop when this happened and the worms looked very similar to rice.

Not through a microscope, the worms or whatever they are are very visible. I am hoping that with the next poop there won't be any in there. He is going to the vet this weekend to.
