Soaking

I have a new baby bts who looks o have been trying to shed for te past week and a half. I jus got him and was wondering if soaking him could help?

Does anyone here suggest a warm paper towel or cloth wrap in a Tupperware container like you would with a snake?
I've done that in the past and it was very effective.

Thats a good idea to,its good to add something roughage to as they can use it to assist them in shedding

Has it got retained shed?

Sometimes they need a hand getting it all off,legs,hands ant tail area usually the areas they need help with

Now that you say it, is the scotch tape trick effective for them? I know it works on snakes also.
A little tap goes a long way. I know the bottoms of their feet are sensitive though.

you shouldnt need to go to such extreme measure as tape for snakes OR lizards! You risk damaging the scales this way. However, you could give it a moist hide, you could soak it in a lukewarm bath (80*F), and/or you could mist and up humidity in the cage. The only parts a skink could need help with are making sure it shed toes and tail-tip to prevent cutting off of the circulation.

I have some rocks in all the vivs. All of mine will rub themselves against the rough surfaces.

Ok i was just wonderin if i should b worried. I went to talke a look at him a wek an a bit ago and he wasnt a skiny color. I picked him up on tuesday, today its been a week and hes still dull but no peeling skin, a little on his nose

but uro, first they grow dull in colour, then they grow a little normal in colour, then they shed.

so your bluey hasnt even shed yet - nothing retained

when he sheds, leave him alone for 1-2 days to fix it by himself. then check toes and tailtip.

Ohhhh ok so there not like leos who get dull then shed all in like 3 days, cool thanks a lot. And he has missing toes so i dont no if that will make it easyer or not but ill keep an eye out. Thanks again

Every species is different with how they shed, as well as each animal. If he is missing toes, give him a few days after he visible starts to shed, and keep an eye on the stubs, as they can retain shed.

Sorry about the tape comment, I won't do it again. My Vet is the one that showed it to me with a ball that I brought to him with a URI.
I usually soak paper towels in warm water, wrap the snake and let it sit for a while.
I wasn't sure what is recommended for skinks, which is why I asked.

Is this normal around they eye when shedding

I use a spray called "herpashed" for blueys that have trouble shedding. works a treat.
Is he a rescue bluey? im only asking because he looks a tad rough around the edges kinda thing.

No I got him at a wholesaler any idea what it is around his eyes

im not too sure, ive never had too many health issues with my blueys so hopefully another member can help but it looks as though it is becoming infected? if it isnt just part of his shed id take him to the vet

Gave him a warm bath and perked him up, he looks better to me
