New to bts

Ok so i just got my first BTS and he/she is only about 4 months. I noticed hes about to go in shed and hasent eaten should i be worried or is this normal. Thanks

My 3 are always less interested in food right before they shed. Usually won't eat about 3-4 days prior to shed, then as soon as the shed is done, they are hungry hippos again :lol:

merauke blue tongue skink i think... and eating or lack there of when stressed is normal and moving into a new home would be stressful haha

Ok so i just keep humit to help him out. Like i said im really new to bts, is this one of the more rare species of fairly commun. I picked him up for about 125$ because he was missing toes but he was the only captive breed amd too cute to pass up.

He is a meruake, so he is very likely not captive bred, im afraid.
He is most likely born from a pregnant wild caught mother that was shipped.

Northerns, meruakes, indonesians and IJ's are among the more common kept in captivity. tannies (tanimbar island skinks) can be seen as well, and shingles, easterns, blotchies and centralians are more generally for the australians - with a few exceptions.

missing a few toes wont hurt him :) just make sure its healed well and he sheds well.
leave him to his shedding process at least a day before trying to help - they manage it very well.
theyre very grumpy before shedding, dont eat or poop and may hide a lot. very normal.

make sure to read the caresheet and food charts, just in case ;) and dont hesitate to ask more.

Meraukes, despite being pretty much all wild caught/captive born can be fantastic pets...my merauke is my favorite of all my skinks. She is also the biggest :D

Something to look forward to. He ate some raspberry today, yay now I just need to wait for him to shed. I've had him for a week now do you think I can handle him yet?

Looks like he has a facial problem. I would recommend increasing the humidity and taking a picture of the side of his face.
Could someone bring this thread to Katrina's attention?
