Hey guys,
Since having my skink, Frankie just before christmas I have wondered whether another blue tongue would be able to be housed with him. He is a merauke and I believe he is male. If he had a female would they be able to be paired together in one vivarium? I have a 4 foot tank in length.

No, skinks are solitary. They should not be kept together, especially not in an enclosure that size.

As a rule any of the T.scincoides/gigas clan shouldn't be kept together.

Not all blueys are solirary,often they are in close contact with one another,way outside the breeding season,ive seen it with scincoides personally,also with nigrolutea,im sure the other species arent as solitary as most believe
Indoors in enclosures,they dont have the means to put distance between themselves and dominant ones,so if anything untoward happens,it can be lethal
They can be kept in groups,but it comes with risks,as even ones that get along for years can suddenly turn on one another,only takes one moment for one to cop serious injuries or worse be killed
Housing seperatly gives you the piece of mind that cant happen,but some folk keep gigas types together quite well,same with scincoides,i have a trio of northerns that seem great together,but the other northerns have to be housed alone because of aggression
It is risky trying,you have to weigh up if the risk is worth it,probably depends alot on the lizards them selves to,but remember even if they get along for a while,that can change oneday
