Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking Indo too. Looks like another case of being sent a different blue tongue than what was for... That's a little frustrating.

I'm getting the idea that importers/wholesalers are using location instead of species. If captured in Eastern New Guinea it has to be an IJ be it T gigas gigas, T gigas evanescence, or T sp. The specie they recognize is money.

We have importers and stores here that labels all the imports "Easterns" or "scincoides" even though clearly they're not. Another reptile store calls everything I.J. As you say they don't really care what they are as long as they get sold.
As I've said before it would be better if they weren't named by location, it might make us think differently about how we label them.

The thing is I'm almost positive this guy isn't an importer and he has a pretty solid reputation. He assured me all his lizards were captive bred.

I told him I preferred an IJ but a meruake would be ok if he had a real good one. Was pretty bummed when I got an indo. But he is pretty adorable.

Could you possibly get a close up of the side of his face, with high enough resolution to see the individual scales?

I'm counting three scales + solid black legs = T gigas gigas or Indo.

Just because that is what they tell you doesnt make it true...
I agree on the Indo locale, but please dont be bummed! They are different in personality but can still be awesome! Our first was an Indo
