Just got my first BTS, Brisbane Indigo Weulander aka Brizzy

aka Miss Kitty. She was at a local Pet Smart for about 6 months and kept in a 10/15? gallon tank at the store. I don't know what got us (my wife and I) looking into them but the first time I looked online, I came across this web site. And that was the beginning of the end of her stay at that store.

We had 8 (animal) kids so we were constantly at Pet Smart for dog, cat, chinchilla and tortoise supplies. With my big 'fear' of snakes, I would always go check out the tanks. One time, this blue tongued skink caught my eye and every trip I always noticed she was there. So, after some saving and a lot of research, we took a trip to get this skink out of her improper housing (too small and a lot of sand in it). Since the time we had moved to the Charlotte area and this particular store has become our pet store, we have noticed this awesome fish tank for sale. 125 gallon with stand for $660 US. The plan was to talk to the manager and see if they would work with us on prices if we bought the tank, BTS and what supplies we needed. It was pretty cool that they did, knocking $300 off the tank and discounting some other supplies. So now we have our newest child in a home that will last her forever. She is so happy with her space and being able to burrow into the aspen chips. Tho its kind of sad to think, we feel like we rescued her from a legit (at least more legit than most) pet store. I had named her about a month ago, so we new it was just a matter of time before we actually got her. We named her after the city where one of my mom's friends grew up and I just like the nick name Brizzy. Indigo, for the tongue. And one of the workers at Pet Smart named her Miss Kitty, so I promised I would keep that in there too.

I really want to thank this website, it is hands down the one-stop-shop for all information BTS that I needed to feel confident in giving this little girl a great home.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations. Out of curiosity, what are the dimensions of a 125 gallon tank? I know its huge, I just can't picture the dimensions.

The tank is 72"L x 23"H x 18"D. It is a 'fish tank' but with a few modifications it works just fine. I'm just having to make custom screening for the top as it came with hinged glass tops. As I explore this site and forum more, perhaps I can get some pic's on the computer and then onto the forum...
