BLUE TONGUE SKINKS

Hey guys... any of you have these or seen these? They look pretty nice. (Its so darn hard to find nice looking enclosures that are no ugly and look like they belong in a 5th grade classroom haha (no offense to anyone). Can't stand Hagen though... they don't offer their products internationally. These Vivariums are only sold in Uk. Bummer.

Looks very UK. From working with cabinetry in the US, it's my understanding that a lot of Euopean cabinetry look like these. Frameless cabinets, adjustable metal legs, etc. maybe a European can verify, but I also believe when they sell their houses, the kitchen cabinets don't always go with it where as in the US, it's assumed hat cabinets come with the house.

perspective view of the terrarium legs shows we should be able to see the left side of it as well, but we dont. apart from the lack of natural shadows and the like.

on the image next to it you see both the top and under the terrarium at the same time.

it may be nothing, but it annoys me so much. all images are just copy paste and placed. even if theyre neatly cleaned from everything distracting the product, its the actual product that has perspective issues. the image in the terrariums are also copy pasted D:
it could be fixed very quick by making a quick sketch of the terrarium in google sketch up.

if they have such perspective skills......what will the finished terrarium look like?

oh its clearly photoshopped to the hilt lol but they are still pretty cool concepts on what a modern reptile enclosure could look like. I would really like to build my own but all the websites and links I have seem look vry amateur. I wish I was good with building things. I would like to do a teak enclosure.

I'm in love with Google Sketchup! I just found out the bits to my custom cage are going to be more than I anticipated, but I'm also getting 1 whole cage and 3/4's of the second cage. I designed the whole thing in sketchup, and I have never built a single thing in my life! I only forgot support struts, which was discovered when I ran my idea by my bf's dad who is a fantastic carpenter. My point is, if you want to design/build a custom cage yourself, look at the pre-built custom cages that have the aspects you want, and remove the aspects you dont want. Figure out what works for you. Its way cheaper (or can be) than ordering from someone else, and if you can work a drill, you can probably build one yourself, even if you have never done it before.

yeah i am considering building an enclosure from scratch.. but where would i find those nice sliding glass doors.

For sliding glass doors, I've always just heard of buying aluminum tracks (either double or single; single, you just layer the glass instead of putting them in separate tracks) and properly sized pieces of glass to go with it. Though, if you know how to, you could always cut your own glass or get someone to cut a sheet for you! I can usually find all I need to purchase at a construction store such as Home Depot or places similar. Look online and verify that they carry the stuff you need on their website first, though. Saves the useless trip there if they don't have it.

Also, using clear electric tape is a good idea at the top and bottom of the glass sheets so that they 'glide' better along the tracks.

I am including sliding glass doors in my build as well, and you can buy tracks, and get the pieces custom cut and ordered from a glass company. It sounds pricey but it shouldn't be too bad.
