So I gave Slinky a snail...

An African Land Snail, and he takes his time eating it. Is it normal for a BTS to spit out most of the shell? He does the same with eggs too! I do love how he spits out the substrate too and takes a little break from chewing!

haha, very cute. thats one big snail! and it is normal for them to spit out most the shell, some eat it all, but other dont. mine tend to spit out most of it. same with egg. i use the left over egg shell and grind it up then mix it in with their other food. good calcium

If the shell is quite hard, they often spit it as it will damage their mouths, but the smaller snails, or those with more fragile shells, tend to get gobbled up. I try and find smaller ones, as the bigger the snail, the harder the shell, but that doesn't go for every species.

Thats a mighty big snail! I can never get Zeke to eat snails, the weirdo...First Mazi wouldnt eat strawberries, now Zeke...

Don't fret, Nae. I have about half who are snail eaters and half who think its beneath them- but they know what side their bread is buttered, with a good meal coming some time soon whether they partake in the eating of molluscs, or not.

Slinky doesn't eat egg shells either! The weirdo that he is. I admit, the snail was pretty big, I got them a few days ago off my friend who wanted rid of them, and he done all the detoxing and stuff but I didn't expect them to be that big! I have 4 left, one smaller than the one in the video and three that are too big for Slinky so I think I'll breed just breed them and feed them to Slinky lol!

Does anyone have a skink that doesn't like bananas? Slinky sticks his nose right up at them!

Very cute video, and as others have said, that snail is pretty big! I plan on feeding Phin a snail sometime soon, though I don't know anyone who breeds them, and I'd be a bit nervous to take them out of a backyard, even if you do flush their system clean.

The only time I've tried to feed Phin any banana, he also turned right away from it too! I left it in his tank for a little while, but sure enough he ignored it. Hmm, I'm sure like people different skinks have different palates? Maybe due to their natural ranges and also personal preferences?

I don't really get snails in my back yard which is why my friend gave me them. Some guy who had a giant african land snail layed eggs and gave my friend a huge handfull of them!! I've kept 3 as pets to breed so Slinky doesn't run out!

Slinky loves his fruit but I suppose, like humans, they have different pallets too! That's why I love them. they all have a great personality!
