Hi Guys,
My Bluey has recently taken to sleeping under his water bowl. I think he may have spilled too much of it and, as a result, the dust from the Reptibark is caked on (and probably in his nostrils). He doesn't really seem to be having trouble breathing, or even sneezing more than usual, but I was wondering if there is a way to help out with this.We were able to clean around his nose with a q-tip and warm water, but that isn't going to do anything for what might be caked on the inside. Anything I can do? Anything a vet can do?
Thanks,
Joe

Re: Nose Clogged
Just going by how difficult it was for us to get the stuff around the nostrils off, i'm not sure that he would be able to blow it out. That is why I am a little concerned.

Re: Nose Clogged
If his breathing is unaffected, he will be able to snort quite forcefully through his nostrils to clear any dirt. If his airways are sounding ok and he has no panting, excess mucous or inflammation around his nose or in his throat, then leave it up to him. If it is bothersome, he'll have a good snort. If it is causing him trouble, you'll soon be able to tell by changes to his breathing pattern and behaviour.
My shinglebacks usually have some sort of dirt on or up their noses from rummaging around through the plants, diving head first into their food or just a little excess salty snot, but it's usually sneezed out or snorted over the nearest skink and forgotten about. Just observe and always go to the vet the minute you suspect problems with breathing, otherwise, for now, he should be just fine.
